William Mayes, age 68, passed away on March 21, 2018.

William was born in Newton County, MS to Samuel Mayes and Neva-Dee Mayes.

He loved fishing and hunting and spending time with his family.

Mr. Mayes is survived by his wife of fifty years, Charlotte Mayes; one daughter Angela Spence(Mike); three sons, Kevin Mayes(Vicki), Gary Mayes(Lisa), and Justin Mayes(Betty); three granddaughters; Tiffany Wright(Zach), Stephanie French(Hagan) and Mallory Mayes, six grandsons; Michael Neal, Hunter Mayes, Dewayne Mayes, Ty Mayes, Josh Mayes, and Colby Mayes, two great-grandsons; Taylor Wright and Trent Wright; one sister, Emily Jordan(Bill); five brothers; Wallace Mayes(Debbie J.), Wesley Mayes(Glenda), Kent Mayes(Polly), Brent Mayes(Debbie) and Douglas Mayes(April) and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Mayes is preceded in death by his parents; Samuel and Neva-Dee Mayes), In-laws; James and Annie Laura Wheeler.

Public Viewing will be held Friday, 23rd of March, 2018 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Newton County Funeral Home-South.

Services for William Mayes will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2018, at 2:00 PM at Cedar Grove Baptist Church with Bro. Larry Laird, Bro. Ryan Cozart, and Bro. Steve Robinson officiating. There will be a visitation at the church 30 minutes prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow at Macedonia Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be; Chris Vaughn, David Hollingsworth, Curtis Paul Mayes, Billy Mayes, Bruce "Slim" Culpepper, and Shannon Harmon.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Bobby Clark, Melvin Hollingsworth, Aaron Kelly, Luis Delarosa, and Armand Therrien.
