William Marcus "Mark" Moore, 87, previous longtime resident of Newton, MS passed away Sunday, January 24, 2021, in Russellville, AR. He was born February 12, 1933 in Leake Co, MS to Mary Augusta Roberts and Elisha Walter Moore.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 30, 2021, at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Newton, MS.  A visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at the cemetery.  Dr. Brian Rushing will officiate.  Newton County Funeral Home-South is in charge of the arrangements (601) 635-3200.

Mark was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He graduated from Clarke College in Newton and continued his education at Mississippi College, Clinton. After graduating from Mississippi College he attended Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in New Orleans, La., where he earned a Masters of Education degree. He worked many years in church related educational ministry and finished his career the last 21 years at Mississippi Department of Mental Health at Whitfield.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Lou Ella Moore Tucker, Nettie Moore Jones, Eva Moore, and Nell Godwin; brothers Ewell, Lawrence, Kelva, Elton, Ned, and Levon Moore; and grandson Tyler Grantham.

He is survived by former wife, Hilda Allen Moore and their daughters Mindy Looney (Kevin), and Melanie Pollard (Terry); 3 grandchildren; 3 great -grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
