William Scott Grimes, aged 55, of Newton, Mississippi, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at the Sisters Home in Decatur, Mississippi. Born on October 1, 1969, in Newton, Mississippi, Scott was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend.

Scott was a graduate of Newton High School. He was known for his love of life, enjoying hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. He was loved by everyone and never met a stranger.

He is survived by his wife, Soujouner Warnsley Grimes of Newton, MS; his son, Tay Grimes of Newton, MS; his step-daughter, Danielle Walker Caraway (Richmond) of Newton, MS; his grandchildren, Maison Caraway and Madison Caraway of Newton, MS; his brothers, Tony Grimes (Tina) of Newton, MS and Joey Grimes (Stephanie) of Mantachie, MS; his sister, Dana Grimes Walker (Bubba) of Decatur, MS; his step-mother, Wanda Dukes Grimes of Decatur, MS; and a host of other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Grimes, and his mother, Linda Gibbs Coker.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Newton County Funeral Home - South, located at 100 Old Highway 15 Loop, Newton, MS. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at the same location. Burial will follow in Sand Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Decatur, Mississippi. Bro. Victor Bugg and Tony Grimes will officiate the services.

Pallbearers will include Hunter Walker, Austin Upton, Richmond Caraway, Daniel Grimes, Cameron Ayres, Morgan Ayres, Josh Scott, and Terrell Towner. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronald Roberts and Johnny Norton.
