"Bill" Herring, Jr.
April 9, 1945 – February 14, 2025
William Keithley "Bill" Herring, Jr., age 79 of Newton, passed away Friday, February 14, 2025 at home.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2025 at 12:00 pm at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery with Christopher Herring, his first cousin, presiding.
Military funeral honors will be given by the United States Air Force Funeral Honor Guard.
Mr. Herring was a Medical Technologist by profession, a veteran of the United States Air Force, and Catholic by faith, holding membership with St. Patrick Catholic Church in Meridian. He was a member of the Masonic Order, holding the 33rd degree, Scottish rite, Master Mason with the Meridian Lodge, and affiliated with the Veterans of Foreign Wars at Decatur. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, singing and dancing.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Keithley Herring, Sr.; mother, Haydena Carolyn Sherrard Crossley; brother, Bobby Herring and sister, Carolyn Herring.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Wanda Sue Ice Herring of Newton; son, William "Trey" Herring, III (Sierra) of Ogden, KS; daughters, Whitney Stewart (John) of West Palm Beach, FL and Wendi Weems (Josh) of Brandon; step-sons, Charles David Mason (Suzanne) of Indianola and Ricky Mason of Clinton; eleven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several cousins also survive.
Pallbearers will be Trey Herring, Charles Mason, Doug Brookshire, Josh Weems, Eli Mason, and Scott McArthur.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alpha Mu Tau Fraternity, The American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science, ascls@ascls.org, or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, stjude.org.
