Wayne A. Russell, Jr., 82 of Newton, passed away Sunday, June 2, 2024, at University Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi. He was born Wednesday, July 9, 1941, in Monroe, Louisiana.

Wayne served his country for 20 years in the United States Navy as a nuclear engineer. After he retired from the Navy, Wayne used his training to work as a nuclear engineer in Port Gibson, working his way up to management in Emergency Operations. He was also a die-hard New Orleans Saints fan. An avid fisherman, Wayne achieved the record once catching the second-largest bass in the state of Mississippi.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline Russell;  his parents, Wayne A Russell, Sr. and Rose Williams Russell.

Survivors include his son, Kenneth  Russell, his daughter, Marcia Russell and his  granddaughters, Zoe Russell, Chloe Russell, Danielle Shelley and Caitlyn  Newsom.
