Obituary

Wayne Jones, 67 of Hickory, MS, died Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian, MS. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, on Friday, October 24, 2014 at Newton County Funeral Home North in Newton, MS with Dr. Ted Dukes officiating. Burial will be in New Fellowship Cemetery, Fellowship, MS. Newton County Funeral Home North, Hwy 15 North, Newton, MS is in charge of arrangements 601-635-3200.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 8:00 PM on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at Newton County Funeral Home North.

He was a resident of the Fellowship Community for over 48 years and a faithful member and deacon of New Fellowship Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and served in many other areas over the years. He served his country as a member of the Mississippi National Guard. He enjoyed officiating sporting events and will be remembered for his love of the outdoors and his many years of dedication to dairy farming. After working for 16 years at La-A-Boy, he retired as a supervisor for La-Z-Boy LDC and the Export Warehouse.  He will be greatly missed by his family and friends including his favorite grandson and his favorite granddaughter.

Preceded in death by parents: Arnold and Frances Barber Jones and sister Nancy Lynn Jones.

Survivors Include wife Sara Dear Jones, Fellowship, MS; sons: David Wayne Jones, Dallas, TX and Chad Jones (Mary), Fellowship, MS; brother: Donald Jones (Linda), Chunky, MS; sisters: Carolyn Burks (Charles), Hickory, MS and Patsy Jones, Newton, MS; grandchildren: Brett Jones and Landry Jones, Fellowship, MS; special Uncle and Aunt: Joe and Betty Dear, Hickory, MS and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers: Dusty Jones, Alan Dear, Eric Dear, Ryan Purvis, Johnny Russell , Joey Williams, and
Andre' Dyess. Honorary Pallbearers: Ronnie Harvey, Brian Waddell, John McNeel, the La-Z-Boy LDC and the Export Warehouse employees and the Men's Adult Sunday School Class and Deacons of New Fellowship Church.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to New Fellowship Baptist Church Building Fund or Gideons International.
