Wanda Lee Campbell, 88 of Decatur, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2024 at her residence.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2024 from 11:00 am until 12:50 pm at Newton County Funeral Home - North.
Funeral services will begin on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Newton County Funeral Home - North. Burial will follow in Newton County Memorial Gardens.
Bro. Jackie Strebeck and Bro. Justin Chaney will officiate.
Mrs. Campbell was born Saturday, October 19, 1935 in Itawamba County, and raised in North Mississippi. She attended school in Itawamba County, and moved to this area over sixty years ago. She was a homemaker and also worked as a seamstress at the Decatur Shirt Factory. Favorite things she enjoyed doing was cooking and keeping up with her grandkids. She will be missed by those that knew her and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Carol Ann Alexander; her parents, Jesse and Annie Ethel Grammar Newell; seven brothers, Evone Newell, Lavane Newell, Eugene Newell, Malone Newell, O.T. Newell, Ottis Newell and Elvis Newell and one sister, Mavis Goddard.
Survivors include her husband of almost 59 years, Gaylon Campbell of Decatur; one son, David Campbell (Susan) of Hattiesburg; one son-in-law, Michael Alexander of Rose Hill; four grandchildren, Jordan Wigington, Ethan Alexander, Colin Campbell and Kyle Alexander; two brothers, James L. Newell of Fulton, Elton Newell of Boaz, AL and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Ethan Alexander, Jordan Wigington, Aaron Brown, Michael Alexander, Camp Keith, and Darrell Newell.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Keith, Mike Brown, Kyle Alexander, and Colin Campbell.
Newton County Funeral Home - North, 9998 Hwy. 15 North, Newton, 39345, is in charge of arrangements.
