Waddie Thomas Weir, Jr., age 75, and a resident of Newton, passed away Saturday, December 10, 2022 at his residence in the Gardlandville community.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2022 from 10:00 am until 11:45 am at Newton County Funeral Home - North Chapel, 9998 Hwy. 15, Newton, MS 39345.

Funeral services will begin Thursday, December 15, 2022 at 12:00 pm, in the funeral home chapel, with Bro. Joe Garvin officiating under the the direction of Newton County Funeral Home.

Military graveside rites will follow the funeral service in the Garlandville Cemetery with the United States Navy Funeral Honor Guard rendering military funeral honors.

A Newton native, Mr. Weir was born Monday, January 27, 1947 and was a graduate of Newton High School. He enlisted in the United States Navy, and served during the Vietnam War. After returning home from his military service, he began his work career, at ESCO Corp., at Newton for fourteen years before moving to Florida to work for Walt Disney World for twenty five years. He spent his retirement years in his native Mississippi, caring for his family and his dogs. He will be missed.

He was preceded in death by his father, Waddie Thomas Weir, Sr. and his mother, Pauline Maslen Weir.

Survivors include his wife, Terri L. Cobb Weir of Newton; sons, Richard T. Weir (Tabitha) of Union, and Justin T. Weir (Crystal) of Kissimmee, FL; daughter, Wanda K. Weir of Laurel; eight  grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Levi Charles Weir, David Allen Weir and Larkin Weir.

Pallbearers will be Richard Weir, Justin Weir, Steven Weir, Colby Edgar, Clayton Kimberlin, and Tyler Townsend.

Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Elmore and Louis P. Foley, Sr.
