Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ginger, a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend, who left us peacefully on June 23 in Decatur, MS.

Born on April 16, 1952, in Natchez, Ginger was a dedicated schoolteacher of 33 years who lived every student who stepped into her classroom and lived a life marked by kindness, resilience, love for her family, and dedication to Jesus Christ.

She is survived by her husband Joe of 48 years, son Jake (August), daughter Nikki Cheatham nee' Way (Matt), grandkids; Corey Harrison, Adilyn Way, Aidyn Way, Alden Way, Mason Cheatham, Maddux Cheatham, Macklin Cheatham and Margaret Cheatham, brothers Bubba (Mary) and Joey Brady (Ben), and sister Pat Tannehill (Jon).

A celebration of her life will be held at Clarke Venable Baptist Church in Decatur, Wednesday, June 26, with visitation at 10:00AM and service immediately following at 12:00PM. Burial will be in Decatur Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations to be made to any non-profit research Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) organizations or non-profit patient assist organizations like teamgleason.org of whom the family owes many thanks.

Her legacy will continue to live on in our hearts and memories.
