Virginia Dee Hand, 82 of Lawrence, MS, died Monday, September 1, 2014 at Andersons Hospital in Meridian, MS. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am, on Thursday, September 4, 2014 at the South Chapel of Newton County Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Sellers and Rev. Phil Smith officiating. Burial will be in Lawrence Cemetery, Lawrence, MS.

Mrs. Hand was a life long resident of Newton County, MS. She retired from La-Z-Boy after serving for nearly 35 years. She loved to take care of her flowers, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was known and loved by many, most of which called her Mimi or Mrs. Virginia.

Preceded in death by: Husband: Sammie K. Hand; son: Sammie K. Hand II.; brothers: Milton and Curtis Thornton; sister: Charlotte Schlaifer.

Survivors Include: Son: Joey Hand(Ginger)of Hickory MS; brother: Paul Thornton (Lenora)of Lake, MS; sister: Mildred McKay of Pelahatchie, MS; grandchildren: Sammie J. Hand, John Hand (Kaelyn), Laci Meeks (Michael), Regan Dee Hand; great-grandchildren: Connor Hand, Shelby Fanguy and Austin Marcum and a number of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 5:00pm-8:00pm at Newton County Funeral Home South on Wednesday, September 3, 2014.
