Mr. James Thomas Sheely, Jr. of Conehatta, MS passed away on Monday, August 14, 2023.  He was born October 23, 1953 in Ft. Worth, TX.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2023 from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM at Newton County Funeral Home-South (100 Old Hwy 15 Loop, Newton, MS 39345) with funeral services immediately following.  Burial will take place at Conehatta Methodist Cemetery, in Conehatta, MS.  Bro. Chris Shelton and Bro. Mark Vincent will officiate.  Newton County Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements (601)635-3200.

Tommy retired from La-Z-Boy after many years of faithful employment.  After retirement he went to work for Newton County Beat 3.  He loved his dogs and his cat.  He enjoyed riding his Harley and playing music in the "Jam House".  Tommy loved taking care of his yard and just being outdoors.

Tommy is preceded in death by his parents; James Thomas Sheely, Sr. and Juanita Evans Sheely.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Sheely; step-son Rodney Meaders; brothers: Joe Sheely, Jarell Sheely (Karen), and David Sheely; one sister, Joy Munn (Don); and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Pallbearers will be David Sheely, Jarell Sheely, Joe Sheely, Mac Hollingsworth, Austin Kelly, Aaron Kelly, Randy McDill and Joe Thompson.

Honorary Pallbearers are Wesley Mayes, Wallace Mayes, Brent Mayes, Kent Mayes, and Doug Mayes.
