Sylvia Faye White, 85, of Hickory, Mississippi, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2020, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, Mississippi. She was born Friday, March 29, 1935 in Newton, Mississippi.

Sylvia was a long time payroll clerk for La-Z-Boy. She was also an Election Commissioner for Newton County for the last 24 years. She was always active in her church, in community activities, as well as the many people she came in contact with.

Memorial Services will be held Wednesday, October 7, 2020, at 10:00 AM at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Rev. Mark Vincent and Rev. Wayne Griffith will officiate. Newton County Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. (601) 635-3200

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy White; parents, Spencer and Essie Baucum; brothers, Lavon Baucum and Spencer Tracy Baucum.

Survivors include her son, Kevin White; grandchildren, Carianne White and Colin White; brothers, Charles Baucum and Maxey Baucum (Beth); sister-in-law, June Youngblood and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
