Susan Stewart Swain, 79 of Meridian, Mississippi passed away from her earthly home to her heavenly home on Monday, November 25, 2024, at North Pointe Health & Rehab in Meridian, Mississippi. She was born on Monday, July 23, 1945, in Biloxi, Mississippi.
A memorial gathering will be held on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Newton County Funeral Home – North, 9998 Hwy. 15 North, Newton, Mississippi with a Celebration of Life service to follow at 1:00 p.m. A private family burial will follow in McClain Chapel Pentecostal Church Cemetery in Philadelphia, Mississippi. Dr. Scott Crenshaw will officiate. Newton County Funeral Home - North is in charge of arrangements. 601-635-3200
Susan was a loving, caring, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed playing the piano, singing, painting/drawing, and having fun with her family. She was a very warm person who never met a stranger. To know her was to love her. Her family will always remember her resilience and ability to overcome anything life threw at her, and her love for all animals, especially cats. She will be greatly missed by all of her loving family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Laurie Elizabeth Swain; son, James Aaron Swain; parents, John Shaw and Bernice Powell Stewart; and brother, John R. Stewart.
Survivors include her life partner, Ralph Eakes of Meridian, MS; three daughters, Diana Lynn Swain Shelton (Billy) of Toomsuba, MS, Staci Swain Holt (Jerry) of Iuka, MS, and Ami Swain Parra (Noah) of Toomsuba, MS; eight grandchildren, James Shelton, Adam Shelton (Renee), Lindsay Valderaz (Erik), Mary Beth Walker (Jake), Rebekah Austill (Nate), Molly Holt, Rachel Haskins (Joshua) and Zach Shelton (Tara); nineteen great-grandchildren; brother, Dr. Bill Stewart (Madeline); and a host of other family members and friends.
