Sharon was born November 23, 1950 in Meridian, MS and passed away peacefully December 18, 2024 in St Dominic's Hospital in Jackson, MS at the age of 74.

In her youth she was quite the tomboy, skillfully competing with the boys in the neighborhood in baseball and basketball.  As she grew older "Kay" enjoyed playing in the school band and performing as a majorette in the Kate Griffin and Meridian High School bands, graduating at MHS in 1968.

She then worked as a telephone operator with South Central Bell (now AT&T) in Jackson, MS and Meridian for 30+ years.  "Sharon" loved the outdoors and had a soft heart for animals, raising birds, caring for horses and she particularly loved her cats "Peanut" and "Thursday".

She had a loving relationship with her Savior Jesus Christ and especially enjoyed her church family near Newton, MS.  Sharon was a 'giver', willing to help anyone despite health issues that limited her mobility in latter years.  She will be missed by friends and family.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents Chestine and Margaret Knight and is survived by her brother Langford Knight (Shirley), nephews Chris Knight (Kim), Jeff Knight (Anne), four great-nephews and special friend and caregiver Peggy Sessions.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Newton Christian Church.  A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 21, 2024 at 1 PM at the church.
