Sarah Frances Jones Stamper Slattery, 75, of Newton, Mississippi, passed away Saturday, August 3, 2019 at her home in Newton, Mississippi. She was born Tuesday, October 12, 1943 in Newton, Mississippi.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Newton County Funeral Home-South. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at 12:00 PM with visitation beginning at 11:00 AM at Popular Springs Baptist Church, Burial will follow in Popular Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Dr. James Spencer will officiate. Newton County Funeral Home-South is in charge of arrangements. (601) 635-3200
Sarah loved her family, gardening, sewing, and her church. Her favorite thing was to make things and give them away.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Slattery; parents, Ray and Mary Jones; brothers, Willie Ray and Jimmy Dale Jones.
Survivors include her children, Judy Foreman (Corey) and George "Eddie" Slattery; long-time companion, Michael Back; siblings, Jerry Jones (Carolyn), James Jones, and William "Porky" Jones (Gail); grandchildren, Dewayne Richardson (Jade), Steven Foreman (Jessica), Jessica Foreman, and Debbie Pearson; 13 great-grandchildren; one uncle, Bob Willis; three aunts, Faye Boyd, Joyce Jones, and Ola Mae Amos; sister-in-laws, Joanne Jones, Patricia Jones, Tiny Stamper, and Evelyn Stamper.
Pallbearers will be Dewayne Richardson, Corey Foreman, George Slattery, Steven Foreman, Derrick Jones, and Jerry Staggs.
Honorary pallbearers will be Levi Richardson, RJ Foreman, Maddox Foreman, Canyon Foreman, and Wesley Weeks.
