Sandra
Holmes
June 11, 1951 – December 11, 2018
Sandra Holmes, 67, of Decatur, Mississippi, passed away Tuesday, December 11, 2018 surrounded by her family at home. She was born June 11, 1951 in Forest, Mississippi.
Born in the tight knit community of Forest, MS on June 11, 1951, Sandra Mitchell began her journey through life. She worked at her father's jewelry store, Mitchell Jewelers, in Forest, MS. This is where Sandra started her career in the jewelry industry under her father's wing. Sandra went to Holland School for Jewelers in the 1970's where she was the only woman in her class. At this time very few women entered into this profession. Sandra then went to work for a high end jewelry store in Jackson, MS that hired her as a bench jeweler. There she was taught under their wing and was sent to Trenton Jewelry School. In 2009 Sandra opened her own store where she flourished in downtown Jackson, MS. Sandra retired in 2013 after over 40+ years in the jewelry industry.
Sandra loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and horseback riding. She spent much of her time helping lost and abused animals. Sandra was dedicated to her loving husband, children and grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 15, 2018 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at the Newton County Funeral Home-North. Memorial Services will follow at 12:00 PM in the chapel. Bro. Charles D. Finch will officiate. Newton County Funeral Home-North is in charge of arrangements. (601) 635-3200
