Services for Ronald Stennis Hurst will be held Thursday, February 10, 2022, at 1:00 PM at Sands Springs Baptist Church, Hickory, MS.  Visitation will take place from 11:00 AM until service time.  Bro. Jackie Strebeck, Bro. David Airhart and Bro. Ben Harper will officiate.  Burial will be in Sand Springs cemetery in Hickory, MS. Newton County Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements 601-635-3200.

Mr. Hurst, 77, of Hickory, passed away Sunday, February 6, 2022 at home with family.  He was a member of Sand Springs Church.  Mr. Hurst was born November 21, 1944, to the late Leonard Leon Hurst and Annie Inez Hurst of Hickory, MS.  He worked at Lazyboy in Newton, Hurst Farm, and Piggly Wiggly in Newton.  He loved watching trains and going to Whynot race track.  He loved his family, his friends, and most of all our Jesus.

Survivors include his brother Charles Hurst and wife Mary Jane, of Chunky; his sons Gene "Scooter" Hurst and wife Holly, of Meridian; and Kenway Hurst and wife Stephanie, of Hickory; grandchildren Will Parker, Eli Hurst, Ariel, Talon and Lennix Hurst; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Annie Hurst; sister Margaret Fitzgerald; and brother Bobby Hurst.

Pallbearers will be Will Parker, Eli Hurst, Gary Hurst, Tim Gentry, Freddie Gentry and Shot Fitzgerald.

Honorary Pallbearer is Talon Hurst.

Visitation will be Thursday from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM at Sand Springs Church.

The family would like to thank Dr. James Bradshaw, Dr. Matt Cassell and staff at Anderson Regional Cancer Center, and Amedysis Home Health Care for their quality care during his illness.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials to be made to the Mississippi School for the Deaf, 1253 Eastover Dr, Jackson, MS 39211.
