Graveside services for Richard Curtis Lancaster will be held on Thursday, December 08, 2022 at 3:00 pm at Hopewell Methodist Cemetery at Rose Hill. Rev. William Bolton will officiate.
Mr. Lancaster, age 71, of Newton, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2022 at his residence. He was a Christian by testimony of his faith and a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in the Hero Community. He served his country in the United States Airforce and the United States Army. A veteran of the Vietnam War, Mr. Lancaster was the recipient of the Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; Army Commendation Medal; and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry w/ Palm. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, post # 12124, Meridian, where he served as the Judge Advocate General. He also served as chaplain of the Patriot Guard Riders. Mr. Lancaster was also a local representative of the Disabled American Veterans and was a member of the Northeast Jasper Volunteer Fire Department.
He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Lewis Lancaster; mother, Ida Mae Pate Lancaster.
Survivors include his brother, Charles L. Lancaster of Katy, TX.
Pallbearers will be members of the Patriot Guard Riders.
