Phillips
December 2, 1933 – July 31, 2024
R. C. Phillips, age 90, and a longtime resident of Lawrence, passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at the V.A. Nursing Home in Kosciusko, Mississippi. He was born Saturday, December 2, 1933 in Smith County, Mississippi.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 4, 2024 from 1:00 pm until 1:50 pm at Newton County Funeral Home - North in 9998 Hwy. 15 North, Newton. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 4, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Newton County Funeral Home - North. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery at Mize. Newton County Funeral Home - North is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Phillips was retired from the USDA, the City of Newton and South Newton Rural Water Association. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in Germany in the 28th Infantry, 8th Division. He was also a member of the Queen City Good Sam Campers and enjoyed traveling very much. He attended The Gospel Lighthouse at Lawrence.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Karen Cooper Phillips; his parents, Ira Richard and Smantha McKinley Phillips; four brothers, James Phillips, Bennie Phillips, Paul Phillips and Bobby Joe Phillip and three sisters, Bonnie Lou Phillips, Betty Jean Phillips, and Alenor Phillips.
Survivors include one brother, David Phillips (Joanne) of Polkville and one sister, Annie Joyce Phillips of Sumrall; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Newton County Funeral Home - North is in charge of arrangements.
