Ramona Hendrix Thorne

Decatur, MS - Services for Ramona H. Thorne will be held Friday, February 26, 2016 at 10:00 AM at Clarke-Venable Baptist Church in Decatur, MS. Burial will follow in the Decatur City Cemetery with Newton County Funeral Home - South in charge of arrangements. Rev. Mark Vincent will officiate.

Mrs. Thorne, 79, died Monday, February 22, 2016 at Anderson's Hospital.

She was born Wednesday, January 20, 1937 in Neshoba County, MS.

Mrs. Thorne will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed quilting, working in her flower garden, traveling, watching birds and cooking Sunday Dinner. She was a member of Clarke-Venable Baptist Church where she was a member of the Caleb Sunday School Class.

Preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Vardaman Hendrix; brothers: Johnnie Albert Hendrix, Emerson Eddie Hendrix, R.J. Hendrix, Allen Hendrix, Ronald Hendrix; sisters: Minnie Hendrix and Rita Hendrix.

Survived by her husband of 59 years E L Thorne; daughter, Emily Williams (Bruce); sons, Eddie Thorne (Vickie) and Johnnie Thorne (Laura); grandchildren: Alan Williams (Janetta), Anthony Williams (Elizabeth), Nolan Thorne, Charles Thorne, Nathaniel Thorne and Nicole Thorne; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Alan Williams, Anthony Williams, Nolan Thorne, Charles Thorne, Nathaniel Thorne, Chris Thorne, Marcus Glenn.

Honorary pallbearers are Nicole Thorne, Stanley Thorne, Wendell Thorne and Wallace Thomas

Visitation will be held Thursday, February 25, 2016 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Newton County Funeral Home - South in Newton and also at 9:00 AM Friday, February 26, 2016 at Clarke-Venable Baptist Church.
