Ralph Buren Chaney, 87, of Hickory, Mississippi, died Saturday at his residence in Hickory, Mississippi. He was born Tuesday, December 26, 1933, in Chunky, Mississipi.

Graveside Services will be held Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at 1:00 PM at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Dr. Randy Rich and Bro. Jackie Strebeck will officiate. Newton County Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. (601) 683-2152.

Ralph retired as a Chief Petty Officer in the United States Navy after 20 years of service. He also retired from the Esco Corporation.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, and a brother.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Frances Chaney; children, Rhonda Bunyard (Mickey) and Mike Chaney (Charlotte); grandchildren, Tyler Overby (Lacy), Morgan Jones, Shelby Chaney, and Darby Chaney; great-grandchildren, Kamp Overby, Kade Overby, and Miles Jones; brother, Gerald Chaney (Gail); sister, Sandra Dickerson (Jim); and numerous nieces and nephews.
