Rachel Naomi Smith, 74 of Chunky, MS passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at the her residence in Chunky, MS. She was born Sunday, October 10, 1948 in Newton County, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2023 from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Newton County Funeral Home- North (9998 Hwy 15 North, Newton, Mississippi) with memorial services immediately following. Newton County Funeral Home - North is in charge of arrangements (601) 635-3200.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Shelia Blackwell; father, Lester Claudius Strickland; mother, Esta "Pell" Pugh Strickland; siblings: Bernice Strickland Brackeen, John Marcus Strickland, Betty Jean Strickland Goss, Sarah Strickland Russell, Maxine Strickland Sheehan, Jerry Strickland and Francis Lois Strickland Irwin.

Survivors include her daughter, Donna Walker (Van) of Milton, FL; grandchildren, Bradley Michael Vanderburg, Erik Lance Vanderburg, Andrew Joseph David and Nicki Leigh Blackwell; great grandchildren, Kealey Brooke Vanderburg, Madison Claire Vanderburg, Jade Leighanne Knowles, Raven Deloris Knowles, Nevaeh Addison Knowles, Taylor Austin Knowles, Cameron Alexander David, Caleb Joseph David and McKenzie Marie David; life partner, Joe Seward.
