Peggy Ann Garrison, 64, of Newton, Mississippi, passed away Friday, July 20, 2018 at Anderson's Regional Medical Center in Meridian, Mississippi surrounded by her family and friends. She was born Friday, January 1, 1954 in Newton, Mississippi.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 23, 2018 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Newton. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at 10:00 AM at First Baptist Church of Newton with burial to follow in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery. Dr. Brian Rushing and Bro. Randy Cuchens will officiate. Newton County Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. (601) 635-3200
Gramma Peggy was a loving person with a servant's heart. She worked diligently in her church in Sunday School, VBS, Media Ministry, mission trips and other activities. After 25 years working Lazy Boy, she worked in several local jobs and ended her working years at Newton County Academy where she was adored by all of her students. Her hobbies included cooking, baking, trail riding and deer hunting. She enjoyed traveling, especially to the mountains. Her greatest love, however, was her family and time spent with them, especially her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Huey Easom and Georgia NeSmith; sister, Lynn Easom Rebecca.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry Garrison, Newton, MS; sons, Wayne Garrison, Newton, MS and Tim Garrison (Amber), Meridian, MS; grandchildren, Amber Garrison, Tanner Hicks, Micah Garrison, Taralynn Garrison, Taylor Garrison; step-grandchildren, Brittany Stuard, Brandon Stuard, Brady Stuard; step-great grandchild, Aliester Tarver; siblings, Sandra Steffens (Mick), Mobile, AL, Vicky Fredrick, Mobile, AL, Pam Chapman (Larry), Newton, MS, Candy Harbour (Richard), DeKalb, MS; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Warren Robinson, Rocky Kirby, Scott Gibbs, Sam Gaddis, Bill Matthews, Chris Sanderson and Charles Godwin.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Strebeck and Bob Bridges.
Memorial donations may be made to the Cancer Society of your choice.
