Paul Arthur Manter, of Rose Hill, Mississippi, passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2020 after a brave two-year battle with cancer. Paul was born April 27, 1967 at Chelsea Naval Hospital, in Chelsea MA, to Gordon and Eleanor Manter. Raised for the first part of his childhood in West Newton, Massachusetts, he was the youngest of five children. In 1977 he moved with his sister Mary Beth and his parents to Roswell, NM, where he graduated from Goddard High in 1986.
Paul worked in the computer industry, working various jobs in California, Georgia, Massachusetts, and in Kansas City. During this time, he received his degree in Business and eventually joined the Army in 2007, where he completed boot camp at Fort Still, OK. He also earned his Bachelor's Degree at Columbia Southern University. He spent a year on Ascension Island, working as a radar specialist. He moved back to the States and accepted a job working for Raytheon in Forest, Mississippi. Here he met his wife Lynn and they were married on May 9, 2015.
He is survived by his wife Lynn Manter, step-sons Anthony and Dustin Hall, and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by three siblings, Gordon Leo Manter, Jr. and his wife Rhonda, Debra Ann McKee and her husband Mark, and Mary Beth Lawrence and her husband David.
He is preceded in death by his brother David Michael Manter, both maternal and paternal grandparents, and his parents.
Paul will be missed but not forgotten.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2020 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Newton County Funeral Home-South in Newton, Mississippi. Funeral Services will be held Monday, October 26, 2020 at 10:00 AM at Newton County Funeral Home-South with Rev. Chris Williams officiating.
Due to Covid-19 regulations a private family graveside will follow in Mississippi Veteran's Cemetery, Newton, MS. Newton County Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. (601) 635-3200
Pallbearers will be Darrin Billheimer, Buck Parker, Michael Buntyn, Bennett Chatham, Dustin Hall and Anthony Hall.
