Patsy Ray Simmons, 69 of Conehatta, MS passed away Monday, May 6, 2024 at her residence. She was born Tuesday, December 7, 1954 in Union, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2024 from 9:00 am until 10:00 am at Newton County Funeral Home - North in 9998 Hwy. 15 North, Newton, MS with funeral services immediately following. Burial will follow in Lawrence Cemetery in Lawrence, Mississippi. Bro. Steven Hockman and Bro. Michael Harper will officiate. Newton County Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. (601)-635-3200.

Mrs. Patsy enjoyed spending time with her family, particularly her grandchildren. In her spare time, she loved to cook, clean and watch "The Andy Griffith Show" and "Columbo."

Mrs. Simmons was a graduate of Sebastopol Attendance Center and East Central Junior College. She also graduated from Mississippi State University, Meridian Campus, as a full time mother and working full time at several jobs, while taking great care of her family.  She was a retired teacher with 35 years of service, retiring from Newton County High School where she taught in the special education classes, which was a passion of hers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glover  Burnell Simmons, III;  her parents, Marshall and Iva Gail Wolverton Comans and her sister, Barbara Gardner (Harlon) of Union.

Survivors include her sons, Bradly Simmons  of Pearl, MS and Chase Simmons (Jessica) of Brandon, MS;  daughter, Kristin Hockman (Steven) of Olive Branch, MS;  grandchildren, Miriam Hockman, Isaiah Hockman, Ryan Busby, Avery  Simmons and Jackson Simmons;  sister, Tommie  Walters (Arnold) of Sebastopol;  niece, several nieces and  nephews;  brother-in-law, Tommy Simmons of Germantown, TN.

Pallbearers will be Bradly Simmons, Chase Simmons, Tommy Simmons, Arnold Walters, Arnie Walters, and Gregg Gardner.

Honorary pallbearers will be Isaiah Hockman and Ryan Busby.
