Patricia Ann Gaines, age 70, and a longtime resident of Decatur, passed away Friday, November 29, 2024 at her residence.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 from 1:00 pm until 1:50 pm at Newton County Funeral Home - North in 9998 Eastside Dr., Newton.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Newton County Funeral Home - North Chapel. Burial will follow in Decatur Cemetery under the direction of Newton County Funeral Home.
At her personal request, Bro. William Savell will officiate.
She was born Saturday, July 3, 1954 in Newton. She was a graduate of Lake High School and attended East Central Junior College. She was longtime secretary at Clarke-Venable Baptist Church during the tenure of Rev. Gus Merritt. She was a Christian by testimony of her faith and held membership with Clarke-Venable Baptist Church. Being a music enthusiast, Patricia had a massive music collection of all genres. After retirement, she enjoyed living on the homeplace where she has made her home for 45 years. She will be missed by those who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack & Valelis Nelson Crosby and her in-laws, Roger C. & Annell Thornton Gaines and one brother-in-law, Johnny Gaines.
Survivors include her husband of almost 50 years, Jim Gaines of Decatur; three children, Jennifer Burch (Jeff) Honolulu, HI, Jason Gaines (Detra) of Hernando and Lindsay Frith of Pearl; nine grandchildren; one sister, Sandra Johnson (Ted) of Lake; two nephews, two nieces, one sister-in-law, two aunts and several cousins.
Pallbearers will be Casey Johnson, Carter Johnson, Brian Johnson, Michael Johnson, Chris Alford, and Mark Crosby.
Newton County Funeral Home - North is in charge of arrangements.
