Obituary

Ola Carter Hunter, 93 of Decatur, died Saturday, April 19, 2014 at her home in Decatur.

Funeral services will be 1 P.M. on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at Decatur United Methodist Church with Bro. Bruce Taylor officiating. Remarks will also be made by Mrs. Carol Vickers. Burial will be in Decatur Cemetery.

Visitation will be 12 P.M. - 12:45 P.M. on Wednesday at Decatur United Methodist Church, 268 West Broad St., Decatur, MS 39327.

She enjoyed quilting, sewing and reading. She loved gardening and working in her flowers. She always enjoyed doing crafting, anything with her hands. She and her late husband, Homer, were avid supporters of East Central Community College. She was a dedicated member of Decatur United Methodist Church, where she baked the communion bread and was active in many different aspects including Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, providing rose buds on the altar for new born babies in the church family, and the Decatur United Methodist Women.

She is survived by three daughters: Ann H. Burkes of Decatur; Sue H. Pierce and husband Bradley of Newton; and Jane H. Smith and husband Ric of Arlington, TX; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews

She was preceded in death by: her husband: Homer F. Hunter; her parents: Jessie M. and Minnie Crews Carter; one son-in-law: Roger C. Burkes; four brothers; three sisters and one great-great grandson.

Pallbearers: Bradley Pierce, Billy Greenfield, Ric Smith, Bruce Guraedy, Charlie Ross and Roy Lucroy.

Honorary Pallbearers: Michael Norwood, Jeff Vance, Todd Brown, Leonard Fick and Ovid Vickers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Decatur United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 325, Decatur, MS 39327 or the ECCC Founders Gym Renovation Fund, P.O. Box 129, Decatur, MS 39327.
