Graveside Services for Mr. Odell M. Garvin will be held Sunday, September 20, 2015 at 3:00 PM at Newton County Memorial Garden in Newton, MS with Newton County Funeral Home - North in charge of arrangements. Rev. Ron Gilstrap will officiate.
Mr. Garvin, 93, died Wednesday, September 16, 2015. He was born Wednesday, August 16, 1922 in Newton, MS.
Mr. Garvin was a lifelong resident of Newton County. He was a proud veteran of WW II in which he was stationed in Hawaii. After the war he was a meat cutter for 70 years at Garvin's Meat Market and Piggly Wiggly. His favorite past times were fishing and gardening.
He is preceded in death by his wife Maurine Garvin, parents Zack and Fannie Garvin, and four brothers.
He is survived by: daughter Ann Garvin; son Robert (Vicky) Garvin; grandchildren: Rebecca (Charles) Shaffer, David (Beth) Higgins, Tracy (Jeremy) Dickey, Amy (Robbie) Beckley, Beth (Rob) Loflin, Joseph (Brianna) Doss, Jonathan Doss, Justin Doss; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Chad Garvin, Lance Garvin, David Garvin, Joel Monk, Rodney Walton, and Deon Evans.
Visitation will be held Sunday, September 20, 2015 from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Newton County Funeral Home - North in Newton, MS.
