Novielene Rebecca Eldridge, aged 88, of Lawrence, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at her residence on April 19, 2025. Born on June 20, 1936, in Newton, Mississippi, she was a cherished member of her community and family.
Novielene was a devoted member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Newton, MS. She graduated from Newton High School and went on to manage TWL in Newton and Union for 15 years. Later, she served as a Head Teller for Regions Bank in Newton for 16 years.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. Her passions included working with her flowers, traveling, and cooking, bringing joy to those around her.
She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Thorne (Stanley) of Lawrence, MS; her son, Mike Atkinson (Sherry) of Lawrence, MS; her grandson, James Alan Woodham (Crisha) of Newton, MS; and her great-grandchildren, Macie Ann Woodham and Ethan James Woodham, both of Newton, MS.
Novielene was preceded in death by her husbands, Earmin James Atkinson and William Phillip 'Bill' Eldridge; her parents, Henry Edwin Gibbs and Katherine Novielene McGee Gibbs; her brothers, Ovett Gibbs and RB Gibbs; and her sister, Myrtis Magee.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, with visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Newton County Funeral Home - South, located at 100 Old Highway 15 Loop, Newton, MS. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m., with burial in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Lawrence, Mississippi. Bro. Steve Robinson will officiate the services. She will be greatly missed by all of her loving family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Mark Spence, Jay Chesney, Kent Mayes, Chris Meadows, Ricky Maske, and Mike Spence.
Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Craven.
