Nellie Ruth Nelson, 91, of Newton, Mississippi, passed away Thursday, April 8, 2021, at Bedford Care Center of Newton. She was born Saturday, September 21, 1929 in Newton County, Mississippi.

Graveside Services will be held Sunday, April 11, 2021, at 2:30 PM at Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Tommy Tanner will officiate. Newton County Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. (601) 635-3200

She was preceded in death by her parents, Zack and Lillian Gibbs; brothers, Billy Ray Gibbs, Hulon O. Gibbs, and Harvey Gibbs; sisters, Annie Lee Gibbs and Eula Mae Gibbs.

Survivors include her husband of 71 years, Martin Edward Nelson; children, Martha Sibley (Henry) and Randell Nelson; grandsons, Aaron Sibley (Brooke) and Brian Sibley; great-grandchildren, Maggie Sibley and Jase Sibley; sister, Charlotte May.

Pallbearers will be David Gibbs, Jeff Creekmore, Glen Davis, Scott Gibbs, Raymond May, and Wendell Nelson.
