Nellie Marie Lancaster, aged 90, of Lawrence, MS, passed away peacefully at her residence on Wednesday, June 4, 2025. Born on September 24, 1934, in Decatur, Mississippi, Nellie was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.

She was a dedicated member of the Lawrence Baptist Church in Lawrence, Mississippi, and was known for her kind and caring nature. In the late 1960s, Nellie was the owner and operator of a café in Decatur, Mississippi, where she made many cherished memories.

Nellie had a passion for crocheting and took great joy in caring for her loving cats. Above all, she was devoted to caring for others and her family, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Hurbert Lancaster, Jr.; her son, Charles "Ricky" Lancaster; her daughter, Mary Sue Lancaster; her parents, Floyd Miles, Sr. and Alma Lorene Allgood Miles; her brothers, Lester Miles, Curtis Miles, Owen Miles, Allen Miles, and Floyd Miles, Jr.; and her sister, Mable Miles Warren.

She is survived by her nephew, James Chesney, and his wife Connie, of Hernando, MS, along with many other loving family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 6, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Newton County Funeral Home - South, located at 100 Old Highway 15 Loop, Newton, MS. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the same location, with burial in Lawrence Cemetery in Lawrence, Mississippi. Bro. John Rush will officiate the services.

Pallbearers will be Jay Chesney, Michael Chesney, Daniel Chesney, Bo Maske, Robbie Richardson, and Joey Miles.

Nellie will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing her, and her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
