Services for Nell Yates will be held Wednesday, August 19, 2015, at 11:00 AM at Newton County Funeral Home - North in Newton, MS. Burial will be at the Newton County Memorial Garden in Newton, MS, with Newton County Funeral Home - North in charge of arrangements. Rev. Mark Vincent will officiate.
Mrs. Yates, 83, died Monday, August 17, 2015, at The Beehive in Newton, MS. She was born Thursday, November 5, 1931, in Polkville, MS.
Mrs. Yates grew up in Smith County. She went to nursing school at the Baptist Hospital in Jackson. She worked for Hinds County Public Health for 33 years. After retirement, she learned to play bridge and loved the company of her dear friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Billy Ray Yates; parents, Robert Burley and Jessie Everette Miley; sister, Estelle Williams, and nephew, Charles Williams,
She is survived by her daughter, Becky (James) Yelverton; grandchildren, Erin (Coty) Stokes and Billy James (Kristen) Yelverton; two great-grandchildren Hali Kate Stokes and Miley Ann Stokes; niece, Sandy (Ray) Palmer; nephew, Bobby Williams.
Pallbearers will be Billy Yelverton, Coty Stokes, Tommy Keith, Johnny Munn, Bobby Williams, and Ray Palmer.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 19, 2015 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Newton County Funeral Home – North.
