Funeral services for Nannie Pierce Jones Page will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 10, 2010, at Newton County Funeral Home North Chapel with Rev. Mark Vincent officiating.
Burial will be in Decatur Cemetery with Newton County Funeral Home North in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Page, 91 of Union, fomerly of Decatur, died Tuesday,June 8, 2010 at Hilltop Manor Nursing Home.
Mrs. Page was a Newton County native, born May 14, 1919. She worked in Mobile in the 1940s at the shipyard, as a factory worker, and continued in that profession, retiring from the Decatur Shirt Factory. During her retirement years, she enjoyed traveling, cooking, gardening, sewing for the grandkids, and caring for her family. She was a faithful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was faithful member of Clarke Venable Baptist Church as long as her health permitted.
She was preceded in death by her husbands: Charles Raymond Jones and James Hudson "Hut" Page; her parents: Lonnie Allen & Lillie Inez Gaines Pierce; her brothers: Homer Pierce, Clarence Pierce, Jack Pierce, Grover Pierce, and Mitchell Pierce; and her sister: Carrie Gaines
Survivors include: her sons: Charles A. "Chuck" Jones of Decatur; Jimmy D. (Dewanda) Page of Union; and Donny R. (Cindy) Page of Philadelphia; her daughter: Lillie Louise (James Harold) Horton of Decatur; her brothers: John Pierce, and Jeff (Wima) Pierce, both of Pearl; her sister: Ruby Chaney of Union; 8 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 6 great- great grandchildren; Numerous Nieces and Nephews
Pallbearers will be Keith Comans, Roy Clary, James Robert Pierce, Kenneth Chaney, Gary Staats, Raymond Hollingsworth , James Shelby Gaines , and Bobby Lyle.
Visitation will be held from 5:30 P.M. - 8:30 P.M., Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at the funeral home.
