Services for Mrs. Myrtle Lee (Myrt) Ellis will be held Thursday, January 21, 2016, at 11:00 AM at Newton County Funeral Home - North in Newton, MS. Burial will be at the Newton County Memorial Garden in Newton, MS with Newton County Funeral Home - North in charge of arrangements. Elder Andrew Carter will officiate.

Mrs. Ellis, 88, died Sunday, January 17, 2016, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS.

Mrs. Ellis was born July 6, 1927, in Newton County to the late John Ernest and Naomi Regions Usry. She graduated from Newton High School. On July 24, 1948, she married John Allen Ellis. She was a lifetime resident of Newton, MS. After a long career, she retired from the Newton Company. Myrt and John loved traveling in their travel trailer and spending time with family, friends and acquaintances they met during their travels. They were members of several camping clubs over the years. Myrt also loved working in her yard, gardening and just being outdoors.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, John Allen Ellis; her parents, John Ernest and Naomi Usry; sister, Ina Pearl McMillan and brother, Ernest Earl Usry.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Wall (Johnny) of Clinton; grandson, Brian Wall (Stacy) of Hattiesburg; granddaughter, Christi Wall of Clinton; great-grandchildren, Kelby Wall and Jacey Wall of Hattiesburg; sisters, Frances (Frank) Williams of Laurel and Ray Fleming of Philadelphia. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Pallbearers will be Rodney Fleming, Kelby Wall, Neal Ogletree, Daniel Ogletree, Greg Fleming, Jr., and Mitchel Sanders.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 20, 2016, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Thursday, January 21, 2016, at Newton County Funeral Home - North in Newton, MS.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Brandon Court Nursing Home, Brandon and Hospice Ministries, Ridgeland for the special care they extended to our mother and grandmother.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the charity of your choice that supports our wounded and returning Soldiers.
