Funeral services for Minnie Laurie Waldrop, age 101, of Decatur, MS, will be Saturday, October 8, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Newton County Funeral Home North in Newton, MS, with interment in Decatur Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday at 1:00 at Newton County Funeral Home North in Newton, MS.

Minnie Laurie Waldrop (known as Laurie) passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2016. She was born July 21, 1915 in Decatur, MS. She was a resident of Princeton Place Nursing Home in Ruston, LA for the past 10 months.

Laurie was a hairdresser and homemaker and excellent mother to her three children. Laurie was preceded in death by her husband Henry Hurst Waldrop of Decatur, MS; parents, John and Minnie Webb of Decatur, MS; her five brothers and two sisters; her daughter, Anita Waldrop Hixson of Sharpsburg, GA; her son, Don Webb Waldrop of Louisville MS; and her great-grandson, Benjamin Stanley Napper of Ruston, LA.

She leaves behind her daughter, Beverly Waldrop Carroll of Ruston, LA; daughter-in-law, Barbara Waldrop of Louisville, MS; grand-daughter, Laurie Santana of Tampa, FL; grandson, Bert Hixson of Sharpsburg, GA; grand-daughter, Vicki Napper and husband Stan of Ruston, LA; grand-daughter, Suzanne Riva and husband Kurt of Ruston, LA; grand-daughter, Anna Fentress and husband Wes of Flowood, MS; and grandson, David Waldrop and wife Rachel of Santa Fe, NM. She is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews and other relatives.
