Mavis Hand Taylor Saterfiel, 94, of Newton, MS died Friday, October 7, 2016 at Rush Hospital in Meridian, MS. She was born Tuesday, May 23, 1922 in Lauderdale County, MS. She has been a resident of Newton, Mississippi, since 1947.

Visitation will be held Monday, October 10, 2016 from 2:00PM to 3:00PM with funeral services following at 3:00PM at Newton County Funeral Home- South. Bro. Randy Cuchens will officiate.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Newton and was dedicated to the Lord and loved her church and the Fidelis Sunday School Class. She served as pianist of the church for a number of years.

She attended school in Collinsville, MS, and Meridian Business College. She was Executive Secretary of the Newton Chamber of Commerce for 18 years, and she served for many years on the Beautification Committee, Friends of the Depot, and other community organizations.

She is survived by her two daughters, Sue Taylor Morton and her husband Noble of Niceville, FL, and Vicki Taylor Ido and her husband Charles of West Columbia, SC, and one step-son Thomas Saterfiel and his wife Susan of Orlando, FL. The grandchhildren are Taylor Morton (Carissa) of Niceville, FL, and Clay Morton (Gail) of Macon, GA; Jo Allison Jordan (Robert) of Florence, SC, and Leigh Darby (Michael) of Daniel Island, SC; Wayne Saterfiel of Iowa City, IO, and John Saterfiel (Jenny) of Hoboken, NJ. Great-grandchildren are Thomas Morton, Joshua Morton, Jacob Morton, Robbie Jordan, Taylor Jordan, Grace Elizabeth Jordan, Blake Darby, Eliza Darby, and Madalyn Saterfiel.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, W.T. Taylor, Jr. and their son Walt Taylor. She was also preceded in death by her husband Thomas Walton Saterfiel.
