Obituary

Mavis Elizabeth Lancaster, 71 of Forest, passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at her residence.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 4, 2025 from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm at Newton County Funeral Home - South in 100 Old Highway 15 Loop, Newton with services immediately following in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Carr Church Cemetery in Smith County. Bro. Kenny Lang will officiate.

She was born Friday, February 5, 1954, was a former employee of Sunbeam Corporation, and a member of Carr Church in Smith County. She was a homemaker and an excellent cook.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William H. and Mary Maudine Summerlin Carr.

Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Rex Lancaster of Forest; one son, Chris Lancaster (Lori) of Forest; one daughter, Casey Simpson (Donald) of Lake; five grandchildren, Allie Lancaster of Meridian, Bailey Prestage and Brooklyn Prestage, both of Forest, Brandy Robinson of Lawrence and Robert Brady Simpson of Lake; and one great grandchild, Brantley Thorne of Lawrence.
