Mary Helen "Red" Vance, 94 of Newton, MS passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at her home in Newton, MS. She was born Thursday, November 10, 1927 in Newton County, Mississippi.
Graveside services will be held on Sunday, January 30, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Pine Bluff Baptist Church Cemetery in Newton, MS. Bro. Lin Chesney and Bro. Jackie Strebeck will officiate. Newton County Funeral Home - South is in charge of arrangements 601-635-3200.
Mrs. Vance worked at the Newton Company for 25 years; she was an excellent seamstress and a wonderful cook. She loved her church, Pine Bluff Baptist Church where she had been a member for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willis and Myrtie Nelson Valentine; brothers, Elton Valentine, Jack Valentine, and Boots Valentine; sisters, Ida Mae Gibbs and Peggy Everett; her uncle and aunt who served as foster parents; Alf and Sally Valentine; one foster sister; and five foster brothers.
Survivors include her husband of 74 years Bryan Vance; son, Bill Vance (Vicki); daughters, Dianne Richardson (Hubert) and Elizabeth Vance and Debbie Vance; four grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons; Tim Richardson, Ken Richardson, and Chris Vance; and Ted Valentine, Clyde Valentine, and Mickey Vance.
Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughter, Nikki Kelly and the great-grandchildren: Grace Kelly, Aaron Kelly, Angel Kelly, Will Vance, Andy Vance, Lemmie Vance, Abigail Vance, Vance Richardson, John Sterling Landwehr, and Witt Richardson.
