Funeral services for Mary Elizabeth Embrey Cooley will be held 11 AM, Monday, July 29, 2013 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with Bro. Billy Ray Gibbs officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the Church. Newton County Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.


Mrs. Cooley, 83, of Hickory, MS, went to her eternal home on Saturday, July 27th, preceded in death by her devoted husband of 50 years, Gene Cooley and beloved son, the Rev. Clay Cooley, parents A.C. and Nora Embrey, and sister, Geralene Pugh.


She is survived by her daughter, Christine (Gary) Joiner, Hickory, MS; special niece Bertie (Austin) Lindley, Hickory, MS; daughter in law, Wanda Taylor (Rev Clay Cooley deceased); Grandchildren: Michele (Ronald) Robinson, Hickory, MS; Tiffany (Kevin) Levy, Spanish Fort, AL; Shannon (Stephanie) Cooley, Decatur, MS; Shea (Ryan) Best, Saraland, AL; Crystal (Jason) Willis, Philadelphia, MS; Jeremy (Morgan) Joiner, Hickory, MS. 12 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandchild. Brothers and sisters include Albert (Barbara) Embry, Geralene Pugh(Deceased), Merle Harwell, Grace Griffin, J.V. (Senora) Embrey, and Nora Jean (Tommy) Majure, Numerous Nieces and Nephews that she loved so very much.
