Mary Evelyn Jonhson Bufkin, age 92, of Hickory, MS went to be with her Heavenly Father on May 13, 2025.

Mary Evelyn was born on September 1, 1932 to her parents, the late David Houston Johnson and Mabel Moore Johnson.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 71 years, Cayce Bufkin, Jr., her loving in-laws, Cayce Bufkin, Sr., and Jimmie Laura Mosley Bufkin. She was also preceded in death by her four sisters, Ella Mae Johnson Rainer, Louise Johnson Bishop, Ethel Johnson Steed, and Irene Johnson; her sister-in-law, Clara Bufkin Thomas Sandifer; her brother-in-law, George Bruce Bufkin and son-in-law, Robert Gully.

She is survived by her son, Cayce Wayne Bufkin and his wife, Debra Smith Bufkin. She is also survived by her daughters, Mary Ann Bond, and her husband, Davis, and Janice Bufkin Gully.

She is survived by eight grandchildren: Chad Bond (Jennifer), Chris Bond (Robin), Jennifer Gully McCallister (Dewayne, Dr. Brian Bufkin (Kalla), April Bufkin Walker (Mark), Cayce Ann Bond Lane (Adam), Amanda Gully Burroughs (Brian), and Dillon Gully; twenty great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Carol McKee Bufkin.

"Miss" Mary loved her God, her church and her family. She was a lifelong member of Hickory Baptist Church. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a special group of friends at Jack's restaurant that she enjoyed visiting with every morning.

She was loved by all that knew and loved her and will be deeply missed by family and friends.

Visitation will be on Friday, May 16, 2025 from 9:30 am until 11:00 am at Hickory Baptist Church, 197 Jackson St., Hickory, MS 39332. The funeral service will be at 11:00 am in the church sanctuary. Burial will be in Hickory Cemetery.
