Martin Edward Nelson, 97 of Newton, Mississippi, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2023 at the Bedford Care Center of Newton.  He was born Saturday, October 31, 1925 in Newton County, Mississippi.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, October 27, 2023 at 11:00 am at Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Tommy Tanner will officiate. Newton County Funeral Home - North is in charge of arrangements. 601-635-3200.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Nellie Ruth Nelson; father, Bro. Martin Nelson; mother, Alma Cass Nelson; brothers, Durwood Nelson and Bernard Nelson; sisters, Mattie Beatrice Nelson, Irma Lee Davis and Valelis Crosby.

Survivors include his children, Martha Sibley (Henry) and Randell Nelson; grandsons, Aaron Sibley (Brooke) and Brian Sibley; great grandchildren, Maggie Sibley and Jase Sibley.

Pallbearers will be Glenn Davis, David Gibbs, Raymond May, Wendell Nelson, Wayne Nelson, and Scott Gibbs.
