Funeral services for Marilyn Taylor Horton will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Newton County Funeral Home - South. Burial will follow in Conehatta Methodist Cemetery.
Rev. Shannon Davis will officiate.
Mrs. Horton, age 62, was a resident of Conehatta for the last thirteen years, previously living in Brandon. She grew up in Jackson and attended Provine High School. Marilyn worked for the City of Brandon for several years, and enjoyed doing yard work, as long as her health permitted. She enjoyed several genres of music, particularly, classic rock. She did arts and crafts as well, specifically, home decor. She was a Christian by faith and a member of Conehatta Baptist Church. She will be missed by her family and friends. She passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at her residence.
She was preceded in death by one son, Neil Horton; her father, John Taylor; and two brothers, Gary Taylor and Rodney Taylor.
Survivors include her husband of 34 years, Ronald Horton of Conehatta; two sons, Justin Horton (Emily) of Brandon, Tony Horton (Michelle) of Terry; one daughter, Leslie Simpson of Conehatta; her mother, Sue Reynolds Warren of Mendenhall; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, John Taylor of KY; one sister, Lisa Hutchins of Pearl; four nephews and one niece also survive.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024 one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Tony Horton, Justin Horton, Drew Horton, Hawk Crocker, Austin VanDevender, and Kevin Harper.
Newton County Funeral Home - South, 100 Old Hwy. 15 Loop, Newton, is in charge of arrangements.
