Funeral services for Marie Clark McGee will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at 3:00 pm at Cedar Grove Baptist Church with Bro. William Savell, Bro. Roger Laird and Bro. Justin Chaney officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Newton County Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. McGee, age 92, of Newton, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at her residence. She was a native of Newton County and a graduate of Newton High School. Mrs. McGee was a retired office clerk at the Newton County Gin Association for many years. She was a faithful member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church as long as her health permitted and the last living member of the "Cedar Grove Singers." She will be remembered as one who was an example in her faith, and for the love she had for her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Earl McGee; her parents, Otis and Annelle Bounds Clark; her only sister, Martha McGee (Floyd, twin brother to Lloyd); her brother-in-law, James McGee (Nancy) and her niece, Gwen VanSciver.
Survivors include her two daughters, Margaret Russell and Susan Gamble, both of Newton; four grandchildren, Eric Russell of Newton, Ellen Jordan (Jamie) of Lawrence, Jessica Reidy (Adam) and Steven Williams, both of Newton; four great grandchildren, Chloe Coleman (Sam) of Marion, Lilah Williams of Newton, Jack Williams and James Williams, both of Collinsville; and one great-great grandchild, Gus Coleman of Marion.
Pallbearers will be Jamie Jordan, Sam Coleman, Butch Meaders, Chris Craven, Mike Spence and Mark Spence.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Craven and Paul Craven.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025 from 1;00 pm until 2:45 pm at the church.
Newton County Funeral Home- South, 100 Old Hwy. 15 Loop, Newton, served the McGee family.
