Margaret Harris Baucum, 77, of Newton, MS died Friday, September 23, 2016 at Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian, MS. She was born Thursday, November 17, 1938 in Lake Como, MS.
Visitation will be held Monday, September 26, 2016 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Newton County Funeral Home - South in Newton, MS. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at 10:00 AM at Newton County Funeral Home - South with Dr. Brian Rushing officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery South of Newton, MS. Newton County Funeral Home - South is in charge of arrangements. (601) 635-3200
Ms. Margaret was known as the "Bait Shop Lady" of Newton. She was employed at Newton Company in the 50's and later at La-Z-boy South of Newton. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Newton. Margaret graduated from Newton High School in 1956. She devoted her life to her family, especially her grandsons. She is greatly loved and sorely missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lorene Taylor Harris and Aubrey Hinton Harris; brother, Jack Taylor Harris; spouse, Robert Horton Baucum; and infant son, Robert Horton Baucum, Jr.
Survivors include her daugher, Laura Hosey Goss of Newton, MS; grandsons, Michael Lee Goss, II and Coleman Taylor Goss; sister, Susie Harris Thomas; step children, Robbie Baucum, Joe Baucum and Cynthia Ice and a host of nieces and one nephew.
Pallbearers will be Will Boswell, Brandon Horn, Austin Parker, Shane Shelby, Joseph Sibley and Josh Thweatt.
