Mamie Lee Chaney, 93 of Hickory, MS, died Sunday, October 19, 2014 at Rush Foundation Hosptial in Meridian, MS.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at Newton County Funeral Home - South in Newton, MS with Bro. Phillip Gandy and Bro. Gabe Swann officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.
She had a great love for gospel singing and she especially loved traveling with The Ridgeways. Ms. Mamie was also a faithful and founding member of Church Arise in Decatur, MS. She loved sewing, quilting, and working outside. She was known for being a fabulous cook. She will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor in which she remained sassy until her falling ill.
Survived by son William Doyle Chaney (Marie), Lake Havasu City, AZ; daughters: Betty Sue Chaney and Tonette Kellett of Hickory, MS; grandchildren: Tammy Lynne Root (Jeff), David Scott Chaney,and Amy Beth Valencia (John) all of Covina, CA; five great-grandchildren; and a great host of nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by: husband William Thomas Chaney; Parents: Wilson and Addie Rigdon; Sisters: Bessie Todd and Mable Goldman; Brothers: Clifton, Allen, Clarence, Luther, and Rufus Rigdon
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 at Newton County Funeral Home - South on Wednesday, October 22, 2014.
