Mrs. Lynda Johnson was born November 24, 1941 in Meridian, to her parents: James and Bernice Chapman. A graduate of Newton High School, Mrs. Johnson was a longtime housewife and a member of First Baptist Church of Newton. She was an avid reader, who enjoyed cooking, in particular Christmas candies and goodies, and pecan pies. She loved her family very much and will be missed by those who knew and loved her.  Mrs. Johnson passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at Rush Foundation Hospital in Meridian at the age of 80.

She is survived by two children: James Harold (Kathy) Johnson of Newton and Renee (Ken) Lyles of Lawrence; four grandchildren: David Johnson and his fiancé, Anna Santillano, John Clay Lyles and his wife, Morgan, Nate Johnson and his wife, Hailey and Natalie Rose and her husband, Blake; two great-grandchildren: Jacy Lyles and Cullen Rose and one brother: Hendley Chapman.

Mrs. Johnson is preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years: Mr. Harold Johnson (2014), her parents: James and Bernice Goodman Chapman and one sister: Zane Chapman.

Private family services will be held.
