Luther Camp Chaney, Jr. , 86, died Thursday, October 9, 2014 in Newton, MS. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Newton, MS with Rev. Gary Howse and Rev. Gerald Chaney officiating. Newton County Funeral Home South is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Chaney was a native of Newton County residing in the Poplar Springs Community. He retired from Air Product and Chemical, New Orleans, LA. He was a member of the Hickory United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Lillie Mae Cochran Chaney; two sisters, Laurie Chaney Edwards and Dorothy Nell Chaney Hammond.
Survivors include his wife Ruth Everett Chaney; siblings Ralph (Francis) Chaney, Gerald (Louise) Chaney and Sandra (Jim) Chaney Dickerson; children, Robert (Joanne) Chaney, Enterprise, MS, Billy Rhodes, Des Allemandes, LA, Gail (Greg) Waggaman, Harrah, OK, Russell (Beth) Hendrix, Middleburg, FL, Tracy (Jim) Griffin, Forney, TX, Jeffrey (Tammy) Hendrix, Pearl River, LA, and his special little buddy "Macho Man"; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
