Lou Woods Smith, 85, of Newton, MS died Sunday, September 3, 2017 at Woodland Court in Newton, MS. She was born Saturday, March 5, 1932 in DeKalb, MS.
Visitation will be held Saturday, September 9, 2017 from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Bethel Baptist Church in Newton. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 3:00 PM at Bethel Baptist Church in Newton, MS. Burial will follow in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Newton, MS. Bro. Mark Kilgore will officiate. Newton County Funeral Home - South is in charge of arrangements. (601) 635-3200
She is preceded in death by her parents, Miller and Pearl Woods; husband, Jackie Smith, and four siblings.
Survivors include her daughter - Linda Thomas (Donald), Newton, MS, Son - Mack Sharp (Sungi), Colorado Springs, CO, Son - David Sharp (Beth), Meridian, MS, Son - Hugh Sharp (Donna), Newton, MS, Grand Child - Kim Thomas (Norman), Grand Child - Sonji Rose (Clay), Grand Child - Malcolm Sharp (Clarissa), Grand Child - Matthew Sharp, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, two sisters - Faye Ballard and Minnie Keen, and one brother - Lee Woods.
Pallbearers will be: Donald Thomas, Clay Rose, Norman Blackburn, Greg Rigdon, Tommy Lashley, and Virgil Williams.
