Obituary

Irene Blackburn Adcock was born to Charles Ray and Beatrice Ezell Blackburn on June 21, 1934, in Newton County.

Irene entered the gates of Heaven and into the presence of her Lord on Tuesday, January 18, 2022.

She retired from La-Z-Boy South, Inc. Irene enjoyed her time at home growing a garden and working in her flower beds. Roses were her favorite and they were so beautiful.

Irene had the sweetest smile and absolutely loved everyone. She had many close friends but she and her sister were best friends. They loved shopping together especially during the holidays.

She loved life with her husband, son, and grandchildren. She considered them her greatest blessing.

She was a long time member of Pleasant Valley Methodist Church. Irene was a true servant of God.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rupert Perry Adcock; her parents, Charles Ray and Beatrice Ezell Blackburn; her brother, Charles Kenneth Blackburn; her sister, Faye Blackburn Parker

Survivors include her son, Ronnie Adcock (Stephanie); grandchildren, Justin Adcock, Andie Adcock, Chloe Adcock, and Kaiser Adcock; brother, James R. Blackburn (Ann); and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be held Saturday, January 22, 2022, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Newton County Funeral Home-South. Funeral Services will be held Sunday, January 23, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Newton County Funeral Home-South. Burial will follow in Conehatta Cemetery. Bro. William Savell will officiate. Newton County Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. (601) 683-2152

Pallbearers will be Joedy Pennington, Justin Adcock, Billy Yelverton, Lucas Carr, Richard Stamper, and Jamie Parker.
