Lewis C. Wilson, aged 92 of Newton, passed away Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at his residence. He was born Saturday, May 6, 1933 in Newton County.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025 from 9:00 am until 10:30 am at Antioch Christian Church, 3017 Hwy. 503, Hickory, with funeral services immediately following the visitation at the same location. Burial will be in Antioch Christian Church Cemetery under the direction of Newton County Funeral Home.
Dr. John Cash will officiate.
Mr. Wilson was a lifelong resident of Jasper County and a graduate of Montrose High School. He was a lifelong member of Antioch Christian Church, where he served as a Deacon and Elder. He served his country in the United States Army and was the retired owner of Wilson Auto Repair. In his retirement years, he tinkered with lawnmowers as a "shade tree mechanic." He was an avid outdoorsman who loved camping and fishing. A favorite past time was gardening, especially growing tomatoes.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Melba Pelfrey Wilson; one daughter, Charlene McCormick (Johnny); his parents, Allison and Mable Hardy Wilson; two brothers, A. Y. Wilson and Tom Wilson; four sisters, Lula Alice Holladay, Elizabeth Boutwell, Vera Smith and Jo McCormick.
Survivors include two sons, Weyman Reece (Karen) of Conehatta and Todd Reece (DeDe) of Newton; three daughters, Debra W. Boulton (Jackie) of Rose Hill, Anita Kay Wilson of Moss Point and Beverly Wilson Shelton (David) of Lincoln, AL; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Will McCormick, Chad McCormick, Brandon Reece, Nick Reece, Jacob Shelton, and Micah Shelton.
The Wilson family acknowledges with heartfelt appreciation the staff of Deaconess Hospice of Laurel and Brittany McLeod, granddaughter of Mr. Wilson, for their personal care and support during this last year.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mississippi Christian Service Camp, P.O. Box 6, Newton, Mississippi 39345.
All floral deliveries need to be made to Antioch Christian Church.
